Sergej M.Ostojic Nutrition Volumes 87–88, July–August 2021, 111207
Highlights
• This study explores dietary intake of creatine in U.S. children and adults using data from the 2017–2018 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey.
• The average intake of creatine in the U.S. population is 1.38g/d.
• Of the studied population, 42.8% have an average intake below the recommended levels of 1 g/d of dietary creatine, indicating widespread creatine malnutrition in the U.S. population.
• Additional exploration of supposed population-wide creatine deficiency is highly warranted.
