Vaccination against COVID-19: A systematic review and meta-analysis of acceptability and its predictors

We aimed to estimate the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine acceptance rate and identify predictors associated with acceptance. To this end, we searched PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and Embase databases until November 4, 2020. Meta-analyses were performed to estimate the rate with 95% confidence intervals (CI). Predictors were identified to be associated with vaccination intention based on the health belief model framework. Thirty-eight articles, with 81,173 individuals, were included.

The pooled COVID-19 vaccine acceptance rate was 73.31% (95%CI: 70.52, 76.01). Studies using representative samples reported a rate of 73.16%. The pooled acceptance rate among the general population (81.65%) was higher than that among healthcare workers (65.65%).

Gender, educational level, influenza vaccination history, and trust in the government were strong predictors of COVID-19 vaccination willingness. People who received an influenza vaccination in the last year were more likely to accept COVID-19 vaccination (odds ratio: 3.165; 95%CI: 1.842, 5.464). Protecting oneself or others was the main reason for willingness, and concerns about side effects and safety were the main reasons for unwillingness. National- and individual-level interventions can be implemented to improve COVID-19 vaccine acceptance before large-scale vaccine rollout. Greater efforts could be put into addressing negative predictors associated with willingness.

Effects of Regular Physical Activity on the Immune System, Vaccination and Risk of Community-Acquired Infectious Disease in the General Population: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Regular physical activity is the prime modality for the prevention of numerous non-communicable diseases and has also been advocated for resilience against COVID-19 and other infectious diseases. However, there is currently no systematic and quantitative evidence synthesis of the association between physical activity and the strength of the immune system.

Objective
To examine the association between habitual physical activity and (1) the risk of community-acquired infectious disease, (2) laboratory‐assessed immune parameters, and (3) immune response to vaccination.

Methods
We conducted a systemic review and meta-analysis according to PRISMA guidelines. We searched seven databases (MEDLINE, Embase, Cochrane CENTRAL, Web of Science, CINAHL, PsycINFO, and SportDiscus) up to April 2020 for randomised controlled trials and prospective observational studies were included if they compared groups of adults with different levels of physical activity and reported immune system cell count, the concentration of antibody, risk of clinically diagnosed infections, risk of hospitalisation and mortality due to infectious disease. Studies involving elite athletes were excluded. The quality of the selected studies was critically examined following the Cochrane guidelines using ROB2 and ROBINS_E. Data were pooled using an inverse variance random-effects model.

Results
Higher level of habitual physical activity is associated with a 31% risk reduction (hazard ratio 0.69, 95% CI 0.61–0.78, 6 studies, N = 557,487 individuals) of community-acquired infectious disease and 37% risk reduction (hazard ratio 0.64, 95% CI 0.59–0.70, 4 studies, N = 422,813 individuals) of infectious disease mortality. Physical activity interventions resulted in increased CD4 cell counts (32 cells/µL, 95% CI 7–56 cells/µL, 24 studies, N = 1112 individuals) and salivary immunoglobulin IgA concentration (standardised mean difference 0.756, 95% CI 0.146–1.365, 7 studies, N = 435 individuals) and decreased neutrophil counts (704 cells/µL, 95% CI 68–1340, 6 studies, N = 704 individuals) compared to controls. Antibody concentration after vaccination is higher with an adjunct physical activity programme (standardised mean difference 0.142, 95% CI 0.021–0.262, 6 studies, N = 497 individuals).

Conclusion
Regular, moderate to vigorous physical activity is associated with reduced risk of community-acquired infectious diseases and infectious disease mortality, enhances the first line of defence of the immune system, and increases the potency of vaccination.

Is Physical Activity Associated with Less Depression and Anxiety During the COVID-19 Pandemic? A Rapid Systematic Review

Background
The Covid-19 pandemic is affecting the entire world population. During the first spread, most governments have implemented quarantine and strict social distancing procedures. Similar measures during recent pandemics resulted in an increase in post-traumatic stress, anxiety and depression symptoms. The development of novel interventions to mitigate the mental health burden are of utmost importance.

Objective
In this rapid review, we aimed to provide a systematic overview of the literature with regard to associations between physical activity (PA) and depression and anxiety during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Data Source
We searched major databases (PubMed, EMBASE, SPORTDiscus, and Web of Science) and preprint servers (MedRxiv, SportRxiv, ResearchGate, and Google Scholar), for relevant papers up to 25/07/2020.

Study Eligibility Criteria
We included observational studies with cross-sectional and longitudinal designs. To qualify for inclusion in the review, studies must have tested the association of PA with depression or anxiety, using linear or logistic regressions. Depression and anxiety must have been assessed using validated rating scales.

Study Appraisal and Synthesis Methods
Effect sizes were represented by fully adjusted standardized betas and odds ratios (OR) alongside 95% confidence intervals (CI). In case standardized effects could not be obtained, unstandardized effects were presented and indicated.

Results
We identified a total of 21 observational studies (4 longitudinal, 1 cross-sectional with retrospective analysis, and 16 cross-sectional), including information of 42,293 (age 6–70 years, median female = 68%) participants from five continents. The early evidence suggests that people who performed PA on a regular basis with higher volume and frequency and kept the PA routines stable, showed less symptoms of depression and anxiety. For instance, those reporting a higher total time spent in moderate to vigorous PA had 12–32% lower chances of presenting depressive symptoms and 15–34% of presenting anxiety.

Conclusion
Performing PA during Covid-19 is associated with less depression and anxiety. To maintain PA routines during Covid-19, specific volitional and motivational skills might be paramount to overcome Covid-19 specific barriers. Particularly, web-based technologies could be an accessible way to increase motivation and volition for PA and maintain daily PA routines.

Objectif
Dans cette revue rapide, nous visons à fournir un aperçu systématique de la littérature en ce qui concerne les associations entre l'activité physique (AP) et la dépression et l'anxiété pendant la pandémie de COVID-19.

La source de données
Nous avons effectué des recherches dans les principales bases de données (PubMed, EMBASE, SPORTDiscus et Web of Science) et les serveurs de préimpression (MedRxiv, SportRxiv, ResearchGate et Google Scholar), pour les articles pertinents jusqu'au 25/07/2020.

Critères d'admissibilité à l'étude

Évaluation des études et méthodes de synthèse
Les tailles d'effet étaient représentées par des bêtas standardisés entièrement ajustés et des rapports de cotes (OR) ainsi que des intervalles de confiance (IC) à 95 %. Dans le cas où des effets standardisés ne pouvaient pas être obtenus, des effets non standardisés étaient présentés et indiqués.

Résultats
Nous avons identifié un total de 21 études observationnelles (4 longitudinales, 1 transversale avec analyse rétrospective et 16 transversales), comprenant des informations sur 42 293 (âge de 6 à 70 ans, médiane de sexe féminin = 68 %) des participants des cinq continents. Les premières preuves suggèrent que les personnes qui pratiquaient l'AP régulièrement avec un volume et une fréquence plus élevés et maintenaient des routines d'AP stables, présentaient moins de symptômes de dépression et d'anxiété. Par exemple, ceux qui déclaraient un temps total plus élevé passé en AP modérée à vigoureuse avaient 12 à 32 % de chances de présenter des symptômes dépressifs en moins et de 15 à 34 % de présenter de l'anxiété.

Conclusion
Effectuer une AP pendant Covid-19 est associé à moins de dépression et d’anxiété. Pour maintenir les routines d'AP pendant Covid-19, des compétences volitionnelles et motivationnelles spécifiques peuvent être primordiales pour surmonter les obstacles spécifiques à Covid-19. En particulier, les technologies basées sur le Web pourraient être un moyen accessible d'augmenter la motivation et la volonté pour l'AP et de maintenir les routines quotidiennes d'AP

Just want to share my annoying experience after vaccination and perhaps have some testimonials from similar stories amount Freedivers. Did you get better?

After my 2nd dose I noticed that my heart rate was way higher than normal and my breath hold capacities went down significantly. During sleep I’m at 65-70bpm instead of 37-45bpm. During the day I’m now always over 100bpm instead of 65bpm, even when I sit down and relax. Once I even reach 177bpm while having dinner with friends !!!! 10 days after my 2nd jab, I went to see a cardiologist and he told me it’s a commun side effect of Pfizer vaccin, nothing to worry about, just rest it will pass. 40days after 2nd jab, I had no progress so I went to see an other cardiologist and got diagnosed with Myocarditis and Trivial Mitral regurgitation! Which is basically an inflammation of the heart muscles cause by the immune system and some tiny leaks of blood from the valves that no longer close properly. I’m now struggling to reach 8min breath hold, 150m dyn and I even have a strong urge to breath doing 40m dives. 30% decrease on my diving performance roughly.

My first thought and recommendation to Freedivers around the world is to chose a vaccin which is done the old fashion way like Sputnik, Sinovac, Sinopharm etc…instead of those new mRNA vaccins.

D’abord, comment allez-vous ?

J’ai toujours des douleurs assez importantes au niveau du thorax et un sentiment d’oppression assez important. Je suis sous traitement depuis deux jours [l’entretien a été réalisé jeudi 23 septembre, NDLR], ça suit son cours, ça devrait s’arranger progressivement. J’ai deux semaines de repos complet, ensuite si tout va bien, reprise de l’entraînement à basse intensité, pendant plusieurs semaines, voire plusieurs mois.
