"The comeback continues, this is my 2nd week back after a 6 month layoff. That's right, I haven't trained or touched any kind of weights for 6 whole months. Yes I am small, very small and this is what happens when you take 6 months off from training. I had the most difficult surgery ever, it was a 12 hour procedure in which my doctor fused my L4-L5 discs. He also inserted 6 huge screws, 2 very large cages that were so big he had to install them on my side serratus because they were too big to be inserted into my back. He also inserted 2 spacers between my discs. It was sort of like an overhaul of my back which is something they do to a car once it gets old to make it run better. This surgery takes 2 years to heal, I know this because I had a fusion done to my neck and it took all of 2 years to heal. I will get some size back but at my age I really don't need that size anymore because I'm no longer competing."

"Midnight workouts at Metroflex gym and I'm rolling solo. Still my 2nd week back after the 6 months layoff so I'm taking my time to get back into it. No heavy lifting whatsoever. Even my mom can lift these light ass weights. I'm small, weak, soft and I know it but not for long. Soon it will be on like Donkey Kong. "

"This is still my 2nd week back after my 6 month layoff due to back surgery. I trained with the one and only Gus Haney earlier yesterday at Metroflex gym. It was very hot in there today, something that I'm not quite use to yet. Add to the fact that I'm very small and very weak just makes things a little bit harder for me. I know for sure in about 4 more weeks or so I'll be a lot stronger and possibly a little bit bigger. Like I said yesterday, it's going to be on like a pot of neck bones."

"I don't think no one comes as hard core as I do, really no one......."

"Just the other day a friend of mine was saying to me I should just quit and not workout at all. What he don't understand is that I'm a warrior. I didn't win 8 Mr Olympia's by quitting somewhere along the way although it may have crossed my mind. But you see Warriors don't quit, we fight till the death Mothersucker. Like the said last week, it's on till the break of dawn."

"Just landed in Vegas where me and my little brother Cory Mathews went to City Athletic Club to get a quick workout. This is my 4th week back after a 6 month layoff for my latest back surgery, a two level fusion. We did a quick lightweight shoulder workout. Really feels good to be back in the gym again."
